Rocklands 2 Area - Week 8

Sibongile Feza's Home

This week was all about service!
Mosiah 2:17 "When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of
your God"

On Saturday morning we went over to the home of Sibongile, a woman we are teaching. We spent 3 hours raking her yard, clearing it of excess weeds and using a shovel as well. I'm not going to lie, it was hot, but I felt so happy afterward! She fed us a huge lunch to show her thanks. The rest of the day I was happy. Sibongile is going to be baptized along with her 2 daughters on January 7th!!

One day Elder Dos Santos and I were walking along a dirt road. We saw a woman struggling to hold up a fence post while putting it in the ground. Immediately we ran over and held it steady for her. At first, she just thanked us and we went along our way. When we were walking she called to us and walked over. She said, "Who are you?". We explained that we are missionaries and that we go around teaching and helping people. She said cool but she has her own church. As we were walking away she called us back again! She told us that her husband doesn't have a church and that she would like us to come back and teach him.

Service bring blessings to us and to others. As we give, we receive in return. It is a great tool for missionary work, and it helps you establish a closer relationship with others.

Side note: There's a lot of drunk people here. It's part of the culture.

Mosiah 2:41 "And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it."

Never ending happiness.
Love,
Elder LaHue

My early Christmas present! Elder Dos Santos taught me how to play a few chords.
