Amanzimtoti Area - Week 80

Elder Da Silva

Week #80... we are getting there huh?! I feel old these days. It is a nice feeling.
Work was a little slow this week. There are these dogs outside of our boarding that bark at 5am and make a lot of noise. I've been losing some sleep and patience. That doesn't translate well when it is time to go work,  but we somehow make it through each day. Durban is hot as usual but it has been cooling down during the nights. I'm very grateful for that.

This Sunday we will have the baptism of a 12 year old boy named Joshua. The Sunday after that will be a girl named Baya. Sometime in the near future will be these 4 young men who all come to church together with their friends in the Deacon's Quorum. Then sometime after that we have a few other people preparing for June as well. So Toti is doing great!!! I can't complain with how the work is going here. Just hoping that May doesn't drag out for too long.

Yesterday we had the Durban Stake Conference at City Hall. This was an event. Several hundred people were there. We walked around Durban for a bit before the conference started and met many members. I've never lived in a big city so my eyes were wide open when I was walking around! The inside of City Hall looked like somewhere that a major orchestra should perform at. The conference was great and afterwards the missionaries of the Durban zone sang outside of the hall. We made a lot of noise!

A nice scripture of the week is from the words of Jesus Christ in Luke 14: 7-11.

"¶ And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them,

8 When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;

9 And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.

10 But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.

11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted."

To summarize, put yourself in the lowest room first and then move up when called upon to do so.
